Driving Course and Hypnotherapy From Your Home When engaged in a practical skill such as driving, there is a psychological link between the emotional distress caused through the activity and what the driver’s attention is focused upon. If you have a driving phobia, your attention is repeatedly being focused upon imagined fears leading to anxious emotions that you associate with that activity. A phobia is no more than a habitual response to a specific activity created through repetition. In effect, what a phobic does is unwittingly hypnotise themselves into their own limiting behaviour. The hypnotherapy provided through our programme is designed to help the client achieve the correct mindset. Also, I have developed a method to help resolve the practical issues by having the client focus upon specific aspects of their driving. During this process, they are encouraged to become more physically relaxed. This technique called ‘The Nervous Driver Method ©' is designed to achieve three things. 1. It creates a distraction technique that helps the client AVOID focusing their attention upon what causes the phobia or makes it worse. 2. It provides a stream of relevant information likely to improve driving skills through INCREASING the focus of attention upon observation, planning and anticipation. 3. It encourages A RELAXED ATTITUDE to be developed by having the client focus upon being physically relaxed during the application of the above points. This relaxed mindset becomes linked to the changed driving style and develops quickly into a habit or a conditioned response. This is the reason why the Nervous Driver Course is only one day in duration with the client’s driving ability often being improved, re-established or exceeded in that short time.
